It’s cold, isn’t it?
- Polaridad inversa: oración afirmativa + tag negativa (You’re tired, aren’t you?); oración negativa + tag afirmativa (You aren’t tired, are you?).
- Mismo auxiliar: se repite el auxiliar o modal de la oración (is, have, can, will…).
- Sin auxiliar, se usa do: en presente y pasado simple aparecen do, does o did.
- Pronombre sujeto: nunca se repite el sustantivo: Your brother works here, doesn’t he?
- Negación contraída: se dice isn’t it?, no is not it?

| Afirmativa con be | isn’t / aren’t / wasn’t / weren’t + pronombre | She is nice, isn’t she? |
| Afirmativa sin auxiliar | don’t / doesn’t / didn’t + pronombre | He lives here, doesn’t he? |
| Afirmativa con modal | modal + n’t + pronombre | You can come, can’t you? |
| Negativa | auxiliar afirmativo + pronombre | It isn’t far, is it? |

Tipos de question tags
- De polaridad inversa: las más habituales; confirman información (You’re ready, aren’t you?).
- De la misma polaridad: expresan sorpresa o interés (You’re moving, are you?).
- Tras imperativos: suavizan órdenes y peticiones (Close the door, will you?).
- Tras let’s: hacen una propuesta (Let’s dance, shall we?).
Ejercicios resueltos
1. Completa: «She lives in Paris, ___?»
Presente simple afirmativo con she → doesn’t she?
2. Completa: «They didn’t win, ___?»
Pasado negativo → tag afirmativa: did they?
3. Completa: «I’m your best friend, ___?»
Excepción de I am: aren’t I?
4. Completa: «Nobody saw you, ___?»
Nobody hace negativa la oración y se retoma con they: did they?
5. Completa: «Let’s have a break, ___?»
Con let’s la tag es shall we?
6. Corrige el error: «Your parents have a house in the country, haven’t they?»
Aquí have es verbo principal (poseer), no auxiliar, así que se usa do: don’t they? Con have got sí sería haven’t they?
It’s late, isn’t it?
Si no hay auxiliar, se usa do, does o did.
¿Por qué se dice «aren’t I» y no «amn’t I»?
En negativa es regular: I’m not late, am I?
¿Qué question tag lleva «let’s»?
Shall we?, que funciona como una propuesta: Let’s go, shall we?
